About ML Walsingham & Son Ltd
M.L.Walsingham and son was established in 1937 by Montague Leslie Walsingham and his wife Kathleen Walsingham. The business is still owned and run by the family with the fourth generation working at the shop.
The business was started by Monty doing bike repairs in a small barn beside his house in the Glebe Wells. The shop started to expand when people brought their bikes in for repair they would ask Monty where they could acquire household items. This was when he decided to keep a range of basic items in stock and every time someone asked for a different item he would enhance his range. This is still the case with the shop today with our ever-changing DIY, hardware, leisure and household ranges.
The shop stayed in the Glebe for a few years before moving to 78 Staithe Street, Wells where it is today. The shop has expanded multiple times over the years with extensions to the shop, and showroom space upstairs and a purpose-built warehouse at the rear.
We aim to replicate and enhance the ranges we keep in store on the website but please be patient as we have a vast range as you would know if you have visited the store.
Thanks
Simon Walsingham
